The human body needs energy to function properly. If you don’t get enough energy from food or drink, your body will not work efficiently. You need to consume at least 2000 calories per day just to maintain your current weight.
When you are awake, you burn around 500 calories per hour when doing physical activity such as walking and jogging. These numbers are based on what a healthy adult requires to stay alive. If you want to lose weight, then it’s necessary to reduce these number significantly. Therefore, if you want to lose weight, you have to decrease your daily calorie intake.
You may think that you can simply eat less and exercise more but this isn’t necessarily true. There are many factors which affect your metabolism including: age; gender; genetics; diet and lifestyle habits; stress levels etc.. If you follow a low-fat diet, you will probably lose weight because it reduces your appetite. However, if you do not exercise regularly, then your metabolism will slow down. A great way to prevent this is to perform regular exercise. Cycling on an indoor exercise bike for 20 minutes several times a week will do the trick. Not to mention cycling may also help prevent and manage type 2 diabetes.
If you are interested in losing weight without exercising, then there are several ways to do so. One way is through dieting where you restrict your food intake until it reaches certain level. Some of these factors are beyond your control. However, there are some things you can do to make yourself feel better.
1) Eat more fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which provide energy to your body. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber which helps keep you full longer so that you continue eating them throughout the day. They also contain antioxidants which protect against certain diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc.. This is effective for some time but may result in several negative health effects including: lack of essential nutrients, loss of energy and a slow weakening of the immune system and organs. Another way is to embrace a high-metabolic diet. While it too reduces your food intake, it is sustainable and in turn, effective for longer periods of time.
The best way to increase your metabolism is through regular exercise such as jogging, walking, swimming or even household chores.
2) Avoid foods which contain a lot of sugar
These include soda, juices, sweet desserts and candies. It is believed that consuming too much of sugar causes your body to produce excessive amounts of insulin. Insulin is a key fat storage hormone. When you have a spike in insulin release, your body starts storing fat. It is believed that the higher the amount of sugar you consume, the higher the amount of fat your body starts storing. Exercise increases your heart rate and hence the rate at which your body burns energy. Studies have shown that by doing such things on a regular basis, not only can your body become more efficient at extracting energy from food, but you can also expect to lose weight at an accelerated rate. The good news is that anyone can start doing these types of activities as long as they are willing to make an effort. When this happens over time, it becomes almost impossible to get rid of excess fat.
3) Avoid foods which contain a lot of fat
These include: cheese, whole milk, butter, full-fat salad dressing, fried foods, and many others. Like sugars, fat too causes insulin spikes which lead to weight gain.
In addition to eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, it is recommended that you drink green tea. Green tea is believed to increase your metabolism and hence helps you burn more calories. To make tea, simply use two teaspoons of green tea leaves, one teaspoon of honey and boiling water. Cover and let steep for five minutes before drinking. Alternatively, you can add the green tea to your favorite smoothie recipe.
